Bachata Beginner
Start your Bachata journey with confidence. Learn the essential timing, posture, basic frame, and connection tools required to start social dancing immediately. We rotate partners in class, so don't worry about bringing a dance partner.
Bachata Intermediate
Learn the essential building blocks of bachata, focusing on "must-know" sensual, moderna, and dominican figures that you will see in social. By understanding the technique behind them, you will go from dancing memorized figures to truly making the dance your own.
Musicality & Styling
Ever wondered how you hit that break in the middle of a figure or what footwork to use on your favorite mambo? If you are tired of dancing your standard moves the same way on every song, this course is for you.
Open to anyone who understands the basics, this class will help you add style and flavor to all your favorite movements, both alone and in partnerwork. The skills you learn here will make every dance feel more fun, musical, and uniquely your own.
Bachata Advanced
Designed for experienced dancers, this level transforms strong fundamentals into dynamic, expressive dancing. Each class introduces new social dance material while expanding on the movements you already know through advanced variations, deeper musicality, and greater technical control.

We structure our classes to ensure the best learning progress for everyone. Read the requirements to find your perfect fit.
Beginner
Learn the fundamentalsNo dance experience required! We start from step one, showing you the timing, basic steps, and core partnerwork technique so you can feel confident at Tanzbrunnen or on the social dance floor.
Prerequisites:
- None
You will learn:
- The basic bachata step & rhythm
- How to dance confidently with a partner
- Simple turns, combinations & social dance skills that will have you confidently dancing at socials and parties!
Intermediate
Master the building blocksThis is the core of our curriculum. In our intermediate course, you'll master the essential "building blocks" of bachata, focusing on the technique behind them so you understand why a move works, rather than just memorizing combinations.
Each season teaches the same core concepts while introducing new combinations, styling, and musical applications.
Prerequisites:
- Comfort with the bachata basics (basic step, turns, change place, open break)
- On-beat timing
- Open, closed, and shadow positions
You will learn:
- Key sensual technique (including waves, cambres, and caídas)
- Body movement, footwork, and styling for typical moves
- How to connect movements to move beyond memorized sequences to confident social dancing
Advanced
Refine and expand your danceDesigned for seasoned dancers. Advanced is where you transform strong fundamentals into dynamic, expressive dance.
Each class introduces new material based on the moves most popular on the social dance floor today, while expanding on the movements you've already learned through more challenging variations, deeper musicality, and greater technical control.
Learn moves that work in real social dancing—not just in class.
Prerequisites:
- Strong understanding of core sensual movements (including waves, caídas, and cambres)
- Control of body isolations (chest, hips, shoulders)
- Ability to connect and use typical sensual, moderna, and dominican moves in social
You will learn:
- Complex variations of classic social moves
- New ways to make your repertoire dynamic
- Popular moves showing up in the social scene across Europe

Erin
Founder & Lead InstructorWith a background in diverse dance styles from Irish dance to Latin rhythms, Erin founded Bachata Academy to build a school focused on strong technique and a welcoming community. Her classes focus on clear explanations, musicality, and connection.
Lukas
InstructorLukas transitioned from ten years of ballroom dancing to Latin dance, falling in love with Salsa and Bachata. His teaching emphasizes playfulness, light connection, musicality, and styling for leaders in a relaxed, fun environment.
Kati
InstructorWith over a decade of teaching experience in Brazilian rhythms and a background in ballet and bolero, Kati discovered Bachata four years ago. A certified instructor, she focuses on connection, simplicity, musicality, and fusion.
Faisal
InstructorFaisal fell in love with Bachata through Freiburg's social scene and developed a fluid style based on role rotation. He focuses on beginner-friendly breakdowns and technique, helping new dancers build a solid foundation with confidence and fun.
