Erin🇺🇸 USA
Dance has always been a part of Erin's life. She grew up with Irish dance before exploring styles like jazz, tap, and pom. It wasn't until a study abroad semester in Ecuador, however, that she discovered Latin dance at a local salsateca and instantly fell in love.
After several years of dancing in Freiburg, Erin saw a need for a different kind of dance school– one built on strong fundamentals, a welcoming community, and values that put people first. That vision became Bachata Academy Freiburg. (Read Erin’s “Note from the founder”)
In her classes, Erin focuses on clear explanations, solid technique, musicality, styling, and—most importantly—creating a fun and welcoming learning environment where everyone can gain confidence on the dance floor.

"There is nothing like walking into your dance school after a long day, seeing all your friends smile at you, and knowing you are home."
Lukas🇩🇪 Germany
Lukas started dancing with ten years of ballroom dancing during his teens. Later, he had to unlearn his stiff ballroom frame when he discovered salsa and eventually bachata. He completely fell in love with the dance through festivals.
For Lukas, bachata is all about having fun, enjoying the music, and connecting with your partner. He especially enjoys playful dancing, light connection, musicality, and adding a bit of styling for the leaders. Originally from Karlsruhe, he is excited to join the Freiburg bachata scene and share his passion with others.

Kati🇧🇷 Brazil
Kati started dancing when she was just 10 years old. Always curious about different dance styles, she trained in ballet, belly dance, bolero, and several Brazilian rhythms, including sertanejo, funk, samba, and traditional forró. She taught forró for 10 years, earning the prestigious Black Necklace at the renowned “Pé Descalço dance school”. Four years ago, she discovered salsa and kizomba, but it was bachata that truly stole her heart. Since then, she has dedicated herself to mastering and sharing her passion for that.
Known for her focus on connection, simplicity, musicality, fusion, and her signature touch of styling, Kati encourages her students to honor bachata's roots while embracing its evolution. Teacher certified by the one and only Tonio Kan, she's here to show you how to truly bring the music to life!

Faisal🇯🇴 Jordan
Faisal began his dance journey with salsa before falling in love with bachata through the vibrant social scene in Freiburg, where classes and late-night socials became his second home. Deeply influenced by role rotation, he developed a smooth, fluid style built on understanding both sides of the partnership — the lead and the follow — believing that dancing both roles unlocks a deeper level of musicality and connection. That perspective shapes everything about how he teaches: his classes are technique-focused and intentional, giving students a strong, reliable foundation they can build on long after they leave the room.
What makes Faisal particularly effective with beginners is that he was one himself not so long ago. He remembers every moment of confusion, every missed beat, and every flash of frustration — and he uses that memory to anticipate and dissolve those exact moments for his students, making the learning process feel less overwhelming and a lot more fun. For Faisal, bachata is more than steps — it's a community, and his greatest joy is helping others find their place in it.
